The Witch of Blackbird Pond takes you back to 17th century New England.
When Kit Tyler's grandfather passes away, she is forced to leave her home in tropical Barbados and sail to Wethersfield, Connecticut to live in a stern, puritan colony. Her relatives (as well as the rest of the colony) find her silk dresses and headstrong ways shocking, and Kit is equally surprised by the hard work and puritan customs.
After a while, Kit seems to settle down and adapt to the harsh colonial life. She is even being courted by the richest man in Wethersfield. But no one knows that she has been meeting in secret with an old quaker woman named Hannah... the witch of Blackbird Pond... And when the town finds out, Kit herself is accused of witchcraft!

I strongly reccommend this book to everyone ages 12 and up. I tried reading the book when I was about 10, but found it dull then. Adults may find the book too short of a read, but teenagers should like it... I was required to read it for history class this year.

When I finished reading I wanted to cry! I didn't want it to be over.

This book made me feel like I was back in the 17th century!
