Still Pitching covers ten years of Michael Steinberg's life, growing up in 1950's New York. It's mostly everything you'd expect in a memoir: experiences with love, sex, girls, and adolescence. In Mike's case, an intoxication with baseball is prevalent too.

baseball fans (especially Dodger fans), and anyone who likes the game itself. If you are a fan of creative non-fiction, this book is wonderful.

Mike's descriptions of baseball, even though I don't follow the game closely, because he had a passion for it that is very evident in his writing!

as if I were inside Steinberg's childhood for 250 pages. . .

is one of the greatest authors I have read in a long time! He makes you feel like you're experiencing the action, whatever it may be, right along with him. Mike Steinberg has an endearing quality about him; a way of presenting himself not as an author to readers, but a friend to another friend.

it's a great read, whether you're a baseball fan, a lover of terrific writing, someone who likes New York, or all three!
