Summary of this Book...
Rose Samson, a social worker, is visiting a friend's shop, when she tries on a necklace there.

Told by her friend that this type of necklace used to be wished on, and urged to try it herself, Rose expresses her wish--"Reinforcements."

This causes her friend to laugh-- does Rose want a fairy Godmother for the whole of Seattle?

Well, the simple answer, is yes, it wouldn't hurt.

This wish leads Rose into an adventure-- because there are more fairy tale situations happening than Rose could have realized; and now Rose is about to get a Fairy Godmother who will try to help solve them.

Of course, Rose wished rather unselfishly, still, is there any other wish that might get granted for Rose, and will her origianal wish work?

Because parts of fairy tales are true... and some fairy tales are fairly gruesome.
This type of Book is good for...
If you like fantasy, it's a fun, realxing book. Like wise, if you live in Seattle or Washington, where the book takes place, it might hold some interest. Oh, and it does involve fairy tales and a little romance... if any of these appeal to you, you might want to try it.
I especially liked...
The inventiveness, how the story was put together beside the fairy tales.
I didn't like...
I can't fault it for being a bit fairy-tale-like, as that was the idea; but when I say fairy tales, I don't mean the disney version. This has a high ratign because of the more negative aspects of fairytales. What I didn't like was some of these negative aspects. I don't tend to like watching the little kids going into a pediphile's house; I knew what was going to happen they didn't... I didn't care for that aspect.
I recommend this Book because...
It was imaginative. I like imaginative. There are fairy tale happenings, so you have an idea of what may happen, but the story characters also mix together... Puss, from Puss in Boots, is helping out Grettle, from Hansel and Grettle, and Sno (Snow White) is able to knock out the man sent to kill her with a Juedo move; later the "Hunter" is turned into a frog... It makes it very interesting, with the rotating plots.
I don't recommend this Book because...
There are some definate things you might want to stay away from. If you have a past involving child abuse, or drugs, etc; you might want to consider reading this carefully. This does have that stuff in it. From the Hansel and Grettle story, we have to small children taken to a house where you get the impression at least one is sexually abused.

There are mentions of drugs, gangs, insest... topless dancers are characters... you might want to be careful about reading it. It does have some bad language as well, if you get conserned abou that sort of thing.
Further Comments...
This book was written a while back, and this is obvious at times. There is a mention of the Green River Killer, who is now, caught, but then is still a mystery...

I think I would have to say this book was a through mix of bad and good. If some of the bad things will hurt you, don't read it, but if you can get over that with "all's well that end's well" you migh give this book a shot.
