This book is set in the future... in the Republic of Gilead. Everybody has a role... and the consequences for not following your assigned role are great.

This book is quite difficult to summarise, but the best book I've ever read.

adults who are looking for an amazingly powerful book that will get them thinking.

the fact that from the first page I was captivated. That's huge for me, as I usually don't enjoy reading because I can't "get into" the story. This book wasn't like that, though.

The ending. (but can't say any more about that now, can I?)

read more of Margaret Atwood. (So, I did.)

sad due to the book's events, but amazed at the writing.

is extrememly tallented.

its the best book I've ever read. Atwood's word choice is beautiful. She allows the reader to feel as if they're living with Offred and the rest of the characters.

There is also a movie made (after the book.) The movie, so you know, changes things. And even gives away Offred's previous name. (That really bothered me.)
