Summary of this Book...
It's a collection of short stories by various authors, so there is no real summary.
I didn't like...
The fact that it is not, actually, a horror book. The writing was good, don't get me wrong. But if you are looking for horror, which I was, this is not the book. It says, "Haunting tales" but believe me...very few stories have anything haunting. A few have some ghosts, but they are not the main focus, and seem as if they were added in so the story would be published. One has a troll. The rest...nothing. Not sure why they are there. And I'm talking one story is about a woman who's neighborhood is dealing with a robber, another is a woman who goes to her parents' house to escape a surprise 40th birthday party. And that's just a small example. It goes on like this.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Sell it. Which means a lot. I don't get rid of books.
This Book made me feel...
Very let down. I was expecting some good ghost stories, but I ended up playing a game of "find the ghost story or ghost in the story."
The author of this Book...
Is the editor, but actually has a story of his own in there, too. Which, by the way, is not one of the better stories in the book. I read it...still don't know what was going on it.
I recommend this Book because...
The reading is good. I won't lie, the stories are well written for the most part. A few leave a lot to be desired, but that happens in collection books, the authors don't submit their best works. So if you want to read some decent writing, pick this book up.
I don't recommend this Book because...
You don't get what they say they are giving you. As I said, they advertise haunting tales, but it really isn't haunting at all. Most of it isn't even close.
Further Comments...
This book is a good example of why you need to flip through stories and/or reviews before you buy. You can't "judge a book by it's cover." I bought it because I wanted to read some horror, and ghost stories are usually good. But this book pretty much slammed me into the ground and won't let me stand back up.
