Summary of this Book...
Stu, an East Texas calculator factory worker; Frannie, a pregnant woman from the east coast; Nick, a deaf-mute drifter; Larry, a singer escaping his past; Nadine, a school teacher uncertain about her future, protecting Joe, a young, savage boy; and Harold, an aspiring author with love and revenge in mind. These are but a few of the remaining population of the United States after a freak form of the flu (sometimes called 'Superflu', or 'Captain Trips') swept over a startled and unprepared nation. The few who are left are drawn by a force. Dreams. One of a Old Woman. The other, A Dark Man. Good and Evil. Can they rebuild the past?
This type of Book is good for...
This type of book is good for anyone who enjoys a book where someone has a worse time than you do. It is written fantastically, and anyone who enjoys a chill up their spine in the middle of the night will LOVE this book.
I especially liked...
I love the way that Stephen King writes with such force that it draws you right into the book itself. You can see yourself in the brilliantly depicted scenery, in the mountains, or the desert. The characters are sculpted and molded and formed as the plot progresses, until you know them almost as well as you know yourself.
I didn't like...
Nothing. It was perfect, unless you hate profanity and violence.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
When I finished reading this book I wanted to read it again. So I did. You really need to read a book of this length-and magnitude, so to speak-more than once to grasp everything. Something just might slip by the first time.
This Book made me feel...
Angry. Sad. Excited. Any and every emotion ever given a name, and more undescribable ones, were felt during the course of this novel.
The author of this Book...
Stephen King, yhe author of this book is and has been my favourite since I read 'Eyes of the Dragon' when I was nine years old. Now five years later he is still publising more books and thrilling me more and more with every one I read.
I recommend this Book because...
The Stand is an excellent book and quite enjoyable for anyone that is mature enough to handle it. Excellent.
Further Comments...
I reccomend this and any book by Stephen King to any avid readers looking for a good novel. He is the author of over 30 books, all fantastic. This book, 'The Stand: The Complete & Uncut Edition' is not the same as the origional, and in my opinion is much better due to the added pages.
