Summary of this DVD...
It is the dawn of the new millennium, and the world's first international highest security prison, designed to house some of the most dangerous criminals in history has been built deep in the Antarctic. Designated only as "Faculty Number 1" (The film itself calls the place "New Alcatraz"), the prison is considered entirely escape proof and those incarcerated there thought they were all alone-until now. What they are about to discover is that the icy tundra houses more that the deadly criminals at Facility Number 1-a giant and deadly man eating snaked that has been dormant for centuries has been awakened by the human presence, and has voracious appetite for human flesh. As the prehistoric slaughter begins, everyone in the prison must fight to escape the paralyzing grip of the deadly "Boa".
This type of DVD is good for...
Anytime you are looking for a sci-fi movie you can get up to get popcorn during without hitting the pause.
I especially liked...
I liked the secret high security Antarctica prison idea. It had so much promise.
I didn't like...
There were some problematic issues with some of the biological concepts and the common sense aspect too. It was never quite explained as to how the snake survived in the sub-zero temperatures of Antarctica and aren't inert gases highly toxic? (A point not covered) Also while a plane landing a few miles from the South Pole in the middle of a winter storm I can believe; getting out of that plane in the same storm and walking in it with white coats I couldn't. White? Did the filmmakers not look at Antarctic photos? Red is the color to wear. For visibility and safety. Also there was a snag with the team going in to the facility. If this were such a high level prison then why wasn't the team going in the Marine Recons instead? Here is something else to ponder, multi-million dollar facility housing a whopping 6 prisoners? And I must say the prisoners from Con Air were more convincing.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
Read what I know on Antarctica and snakes to figure out what I may have missed.
The cast of this DVD...
The acting was fairly poor. Not cheesy. At points it was believable but then the illusion was lost.
I recommend this DVD because...
If you are into any type of creature feature then this is it.
I don't recommend this DVD because...
If you are looking for a intense heavy action creature feature, this isn't it.
Further Comments...
Boa is a better story than Python or Python Two but it doesn't come close to Anaconda in tense and suspense. I found myself telling myself what the characters did wrong and how I would do things differnt.
