Summary of this Book...
This book is a modern take on the secrets of the Holy Grail. It follows Alais and Alice though their times in the 13th century and the 21st century, respectively.

Alais is a guardian of the Grail, Alice is her decendant, her modern-day counterpart, who finds herself caught up in her descendant's footsteps.
This type of Book is good for...
Anyone interested in Grail mythology.
I especially liked...
The changing of timelines. Ms. Mosse moves the story back and forth from present-day France to Middle Ages France with aplomb. Her descriptions of Middle Age France are very believable. I also liked her inclusion of the Cathars. Reading this book piqued my interest on their beliefs and society.
I didn't like...
The ending. To me, Ms. Mosse failed to bring everything together. It was anti-climactic and you never really got a sense of what the Grail actually is. The ending was somewhat ambiguous and left me scratching my head.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read more on the Cathar spirituality. They are similar to the Gnostics and have a different take on modern Christianity.
This Book made me feel...
Like more research on the Grail is needed.
The author of this Book...
Has a wonderful, descriptive style, which I love. When reading, I found myself transported to the scenes she presented.
I recommend this Book because...
It is an interesting take on the Grail mythology. It's a differing opinion on what the Grail is.
I don't recommend this Book because...

Further Comments...
I actually enjoyed this book. Ms. Mosse was so descripive in her storytelling. It had a slow start, but once the action got moving, it was quite enjoyable. I just rail against the ending. It was so blah compared to the rest of the book.
