Summary of this Book...
A story about a young woman bearing the burden of the world on her shoulders. Cassie and her sister were abandoned by her father, left with her unstable mother. Good thing grandpa is there to help.

Yup, that's about it. I know it sounds like hundreds of other books out there.

Cassie, short for Cassiopeia who still believes in her father despite the fact he left her, is going to escape her small town hell by hustling pool; like her father.

She has adventures while she plays in pool halls, making her living. She hears stories of her daddy, Jimmy Claiborne; he has a new wife and family.

Her mom dies, her sister marries and her grandpa continues to live in a trailer on the back of what is now her sister's property.

In the end, she drives off into the sunset with only a bag of her possessions to find a new life.

Nothing orignal and no memorable characters.
I didn't like...
much about this story. The disappointment kicked me in the chest. Weak characters and predictable story line.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
print my NaNoWriMo novella and send it Free Press Publishing. Apparently, they will print anything.
This Book made me feel...
concerned about the quality of books for young adults. I don't think reading this book would provide any encouragement to continue to read, never mind consider reading another of Kimmel's books.
The author of this Book...
Haven Kimmel, told a predictable story with rather dull language. She does have two previous books, which my book cover tells me were best-sellers.
I don't recommend this Book because...
there are no interesting characters to meet or tales to hear.
Further Comments...
I was drawn to this book because of the 9-ball and 9-ball rack on the cover. I love billiards and there are few great books out there with pool in the story line.

The cover art pulled me in, combined with the blurb on the inside cover and the technical credits, gave me high hopes. I'll admit to a possible bias here... my expectations might have been too high. There is a possibility I am reviewing this book against what I was expecting and not on it's own merits.
