In Final Fantasy: Chocobo's Dungeon, you play as the lovable animal, Chocobo, well known through the Final Fantasy series. The game is basically a dungeon-crawler, with you trekking through lots of dungeons to level up your chocobo and his various 'job' types.

Fans of classic, old-school RPGs will have the patience for this slow moving dungeon-crawler. There's lots of leveling up required, and those who don't mind playing dungeons a few times through will enjoy this.

I particularly enjoyed the different job types which come with their own styles and abilities. There is the usual white and black mage, the knight and the thief, but there are also some unexpected ones like dancer, ninja, scholar and more! Another aspect I really enjoyed was customizing weaponry and armor. The system isn't too complicated, but it allows a great amount of personal taste and customization.

The mini-games and challenges, including the pop-up card battle, weren't particularly exciting to me. I tend to find it difficult to get into Final Fantasy mini-games, though. They're not necessary to complete the game, though, so you can feel free to skip over them like I did.

Square Enix is known mostly for the Final Fantasy series, but they put out a number of quality games.

If you're a fan of classic RPGs or a fan of the Final Fantasy series, you'll probably appreciate and enjoy this one. It doesn't have quite the same feel as the rest of the FF series, but it's a fun game.
