So I totally love this old (ish) series about the Korean war. This series lasted longer than the actual war did, but it brought a lasting touch of life and love to the viewers. One of those rare pieces where life and TV and comedy all merge into something that you take to heart.

This is the start of my favorite years. BJ Hunnicut and Col. Potter come on board. Frank Burns is still there, but slowly on the way out. Hot Lips is at her "worst" and Father Mulcahy is the guiding light of sanity in a place of blood, tragedy, small windows of light and a lot of love.

At the end of this series is one of the best artistic pieces of film history, the "interview" in black and white, each of the members of the 4077th talking about what it was really like....even down to the gentle Father describing how he could never get over watching the doctors warm their hands over the steam from the bodies they had just cut into. Very moving, very real and very touching.

Everyone who loves comedy, love, war, drama, real life.

The characters....you just want to take them home with you....and the Swamp's distillery!

This series, all of it, is Americana. This honors who we are as a country, as military personnel at war...and it helps me remember that although the emotions and feelings this shows were true for the Korean war, it is just as true now.
