Summary of this Book...
This is a carry on from Rachel's holiday, about another of the Walsh sisters, Anna. She finds herself at home in Ireland, resting up after an accident. Slowly the story unfolds to reveal what happened to Anna, who lives and works in New York, and where she goes from here.
This type of Book is good for...
A good solid read, where you'll laugh one minute and cry the next. Again, Marian delivers wonderfully colourful characters who are 'real'.
I especially liked...
Her storyline on this one is so involved and open ended right until the last page. You really don't know where she's going to take you...but the ending will not disappoint. She ties everything up without spelling it out. I like how she's given several options for the end, and left it open, so the reader can make up their own mind. Anything else, after what Anna had been through, would have been wrong.
I didn't like...
I found the beginning quite frustrating; not knowing what had happened to Anna for quite some time. But this added to the suspense and you just had to keep reading. Again, her story ebbed and flowed, it had it's quiet moments when you thought 'hurry up and get on with it'.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Once again, Marian left me wanting to cry and smile at the same time...I was completely satisfied.
This Book made me feel...
Sad...very sad. The way she writes (again in first person) you can completely relate to the main character and everything she is going through. I couldn't help putting myself in her shoes and wondering what I would be like in her situation.
The author of this Book...
Is fantastic. Marian puts so much energy into her story, and enough 'realistic' storyline, that she can get away with the cheesy ending. She leads you one way and then slams a traditional ending in your face...it works.
I recommend this Book because...
It's a rollercoaster ride of emotion and real life situations.
I don't recommend this Book because...
If you don't like to cry...don't read it. I absolutely bawled my eyes out when she went to Boston near the end of the book...
Further Comments...
If you haven't read any Marian Keyes books, don't start with this one. As I said previously, this is book 3 with the Walsh sisters...would recommend starting with Watermelon and then Rachel's holiday before you attempt this one.
