Summary of this Book...
I'm a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks, that's for sure, even if I have only read about ten of his books. But I'm going to finish them all in the future!
Well, of all his books, my favourite one is a walk to remember, which I love more than any other book in the world. But strangely, I just can't forget about dear John. It just sticks with me after reading it.
In the first part, it's a really sweet story. It's just an ordinary love story, but I still love it a lot. While reading the first part, I was hoping that the title DEAR JOHN didn't really mean something about a dear john letter, because I just can't imagine Savannah and John going on their separate ways. But then, when I read the rest of the book, I think I have understand the theme of the book. True love means that you care for another person's happiness more than your own, no matter how painful the choice you face might be. It's amazing! I know, it's kind of a cliche, but it feels just right in the story of Savannah and John. And I think Tim is a really great character too. The theme of the book, the one I just mentioned, firstly came from what Tim had done. He loves Savannah, he loves her very very much, maybe more than John. But he knows that John is the person that Savannah loves, and so he never speaks about his own feelings. He knows Savannah long time ago, and they are really close friend. It's just touching to see that a man can let go of of the love of his life because he understands that he can't give her the happiness he wants her to have.
For the rest of the book, it's getting even better. John came back, knowing Savannah has married to Tim, which kind of broke his heart. But, he had grown up, and I think he has learnt from Tim, so he let go. There was a moment when I wish Tim couldn't make it, and John will take care of Savannah for the rest of her life, but then I think about the theme of the book again, and I took it back at once, because I have understood it too. I am happy for Tim and Savannah, and I don't feel sad when John sold the coin collection and gave the money to Tim, because I know he was doing the right thing, not just selling the coins, but trying his best to help them staying together.
For the last chapter, when they look up the sky, I was satisfied. They had made the right decisions in their lives, and they had made the right decisions in their hearts.
