Summary of this Book...
True Magick: A Beginner’s Guide 15th Anniversary Edition by Amber K. Llewellyn Worldwide: Woodbury, MN. 2006.

356 pages, $12.95

This is an excellent resource guide for anyone wanting to learn how to practice Wicca – although the book is titled True Magick – it is definetly partial to the magickal practices of the Wiccan traditions.

Whereas I found most of the information to be useful to a beginner, I did have a bit of a problem with something listed in the Ethics and Hazards section. Amber says magicians should not charge money. Hmmmm....I wonder if Amber wrote this book for nothing? I’m pretty sure she got paid for it. Later on when talking about schools, she does say you can expect to pay a fee. Well let’s make up our minds. This is an old argument that has gone on for decades now and it’s time for the argument to end. I for one am tired of people saying charging money for your services is not ethical. You don’t HAVE to charge, but saying if you do charge is unethical is just wrong. Does a psychiatrist charge for their time? How about a mechanic? This just needs to stop and I was sorry to see this included in an updated edition.

Other than that one speed bump, this is a good book for anyone starting out who is looking to learn more. By far, this is one of the better Wicca 101 books on the market.
