Summary of this Book...
Sakura Avalon is a young girl who finds a mysterious book called The Clow, in her father's study. When she opens the book she finds a stack of cards and reads the name of the first card, Windy. Upon saying the name the card comes to life and blows the other cards out of the book. The guardian of the book, a yellow cat-like-thing by the name of Keroberus tells Sakura that she has freed the Clow Cards and must recapture them.

This is a remake of the original Cardcaptor Sakura manga. The character's names have changed a but to be easier for an English speakign reader who is new to manga.
This type of Book is good for...
Kids and preteens who love subtle romance, adventure, and magic.
I especially liked...
I read this in junior high but the story is good and one that I've seen loved by adults and kids alike. This first book had great artwork and sets the story up nicely.
I didn't like...
Sakura's friend is a plot device. She is there to design costumes for Sakura and I don't think the manga looked into her character very well. She is a good friend and Sakura's cousin, but mainly she seems to be there to videotape Sakura's adventures and design outfits.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read the next one. It's an addictive story that moves through Sakura becoming a Cardcaptor; accepting that role; meeting someone related to Clow Reed, the maker of the Clow Cards; fighting to collect all the cards and becoming friends with the other Cardcaptor; and battling to become Master of The Clow. The book then introduces another storyline so it's great if you want something kind of long to read.
This Book made me feel...
It was cute, embarassing, adventure filled, and upbeat. This story had very few moments of depression and those were usually resolved at a moderatly fast pace so you were left feeling good.
The author of this Book...
The group of female writers and artists known as CLAMP has created many manga novels and this is one of their better ones. Sure some elements are not needed and there's some fluf but there are a LOT of cards to get and the creaters really love Sakura and Sayoran.
I recommend this Book because...
It's exciting and the moral is to do your best no matter what. Sakura fails and has to pick herself up and try again, it's very heartwarming.
I don't recommend this Book because...
Well, CLAMP does not develop characters other than the main ones very well, it's left for speculation. They love the younger characters paired with adult characters and there is that relationship in this book, though it's innocent. It's a book parents may want to discuss with younger kids.
Further Comments...
This was just a cute story that tells the reader to keep trying. There are many clubs and websites and forums for this manga series so reading it also gives the reader a place to go and discuss the book; and there is an English version anime, and a Japanese anime as well as 2 movies.
