Summary of this Book...
In a future of FTL (faster than light-speed travel) mankind has spread out across the universe. The Polity, a government run by Artificial Intelligences uses special agents to keep things from running amok; much like Texas Rangers were used to maintain order in the wild west.

Ian Cormac is the ultimate agent on the ultimate mission. When he investigates a strange being, he becomes involved in a high paced game of intrigue.

There is a catch. Ian Cormac has become overly reliant on his internet-like connection to the Grid. His controllers see this as a weakness. He must complete this next mission on his own. They know this means they risk losing their best agent.
This type of Book is good for...
If you like fast paced Sci-Fi adventure with villains and heroes, this is the book for you.
I especially liked...
I like the way mankind's imagination has outpaced his abilities. The development of Artificial Intelligences to run governments and space ships allows for huge leaps in technological advancement.
I didn't like...
Ian Cormac is such an interesting character that when he was not in a part of the story, I missed him.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
I became a fan of the author Neal Asher. He has written several books, including 4 more in the series with Ian Cormac as the hero.
This Book made me feel...
This book got my brain going. It is such a page turner that when I stopped reading, it would take me a few minutes to realize that I'm not in the same world as the futuristic Gridlinked.
The author of this Book...
Neal Asher
I recommend this Book because...
One of the things that I look for in a book is something that makes me want to turn to the next page. This book certainly has that. I never felt that it was anything less that completely captivating.
Further Comments...
Neal Asher's other books with Ian Cormac are just as good. This was his breakout novel but those written earlier are certainly worth a read.
