Summary of this Book...
This is the true crime story of Ronda Reynolds. She was found dead of a gun shot wound to the head at Christmas time 1998. For some strange reason her death was deemed a suicide even though circumstances and a lot of people screamed otherwise and have continued to scream for twelve years almost.

This book is basically about Ronda's courageous mother's crusade for justice for her daughter. She has endured a lot to prove what she believes (and I believe) to be the truth.
This type of Book is good for...
anyone who likes to read about true crime, although it leaves you wanting to scream and pound the furniture in frustration in the end.
I especially liked...
the fact that Ann Rule lays out the strange behavior of the husband and lets it kind of speak for itself. It speaks volumes.
I didn't like...
the fact that at the end we do not know who did it for sure. I have a pretty good idea between a small group of people, but we still don't really know.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
trade it in.
This Book made me feel...
angry and frustrated at the police and coroner that pushed for it to be neatly shoved aside as a suicide. Unbelievable.
The author of this Book...
does a good job with laying out the behaviors here. Sometimes I have found her to sort of condescend to her readers and tell them the same thing over and over again. This was not the case here and I appreciated that as a reader.
I recommend this Book because...
it is an engrossing read. It is informative. I also don't recommend it because there were no definitive answers yet on who done it.
I don't recommend this Book because...
it leaves you very frustrated in the end and wondering how this could be. How this could be is sadly because the victim was not perfect. Well, how many of us are perfect? She deserved a lot better than she got from the investigators. Shameful!
Further Comments...
I struggled with whether to recommend this. It was a fast and engrossing read but it left me feeling like a monster (whether he actually pulled the trigger or not) is a principal of an elementary school there in that Lewis County. Was it his clout in the community that made the police cover over this murder? His behavior alone (about his wife's possessions and insurance policy) is so reprehensible that I shudder to think this asshole is in charge of little kids in that area. How horrifying is that? Maybe Ann Rule wanted everyone to know what gives on this guy and I applaud her for doing that. Perhaps in the future there will be a postscript to this, but at least now there is a definite ruling that this was a bungled (from the investigation standpoint) homicide.
