Evie is sent away to live at Wyldcliffe Abbey School for Young Ladies. Her Grandmother has fallen ill, her mother is long dead, and her father is a member of the Queen's Royal Army. From the moment she arrives at Wyldcliffe, she becomes entranced with a young man, Sebastian, and all of the dangers and secrets of his life.

Mindless reading and killing time.

The actual story was decent, though a bit slow.

The diary entries that interrupted the flow of the story almost every-other-chapter throughout the whole book. I also didn't like that the tense changed from past-perfect to present. It made it awkward and hard to read.

See how the story ends in the second book. Though it is written in a similar, strange fashion, if you can get past that the story line itself isn't so bad.

Often frustrated. I hated the diary entries from Agnes. I thought they were boring and not at all interesting.

Did a wonderful, thorough job with the plot. I just wish she had better executed it.

It's a great book for young teens, with no serious violence, and the love scenes are rather tame.

Aforementioned strange writing techniques. It is frustrating for the reader, but if you get past that, the story isn't so bad.
