Summary of this Book...
Cuzzy Gage, a mentally confused teen struggling to survive on his own and learn how to deal with some of lifes hardships, befriends Tracy "Tray" Michael, a college graduate who is looking after a deceased friends property. Tray has his own life full of secrets that the nosy town does not agree with, and assumptions start to run high when Cuzzy and Tray start spending tmie togehter. With the twists and turns of life, comes a great book that teaches you how to overcome some of the sadder realizations in life.
This type of Book is good for...
Teens over 15 through adult. If you are into books about speculation, friendship in hard times, sexual orientation and preferences, and a book full of drama, emotion and feeling, then you will adore TBOHT.
I especially liked...
The friendship between Cuzzy and Tray. Though it is one that is questioned a lot throughout the book, both by the townspeople and Tray and Cuzzy themselves, the bind between them cannot be broken. It is true test of friendship and standing up for what you really believe in!
I didn't like...
the ending as much as I had hoped I would. It was sad, but still understandable as to why the author write it this way. There really isnt anything to dislike about the book, though the cursing can get to some people after a little in some scenes.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
cry for the main characters. They go through so much in these chapters that you cannot help but feel emotions towards them! I was compelled to show this book to several other people and all agreed it was a perfect read!
This Book made me feel...
more sympathetic towards people in sadder situations than my own. It was touching to see the way that sme of the characters bonded to get through the entire ordeal.
The author of this Book...
is Sue Halpern, a terrific author with amazing but often overlooked talent. If I hadnt previously read her works, I never would have fallen in love with this book.
I recommend this Book because...
it is hands down, one of the top five books I have ever read and there are literally hundreds that I have gone through. I could read this book a couple times a year and never get tired of being right there with the characters.
I don't recommend this Book because...
there are some situations in the book that are quite hard for some readers, such as in reference to sexual prefernce and orientation as well as soe scenes of physical violence between characters. If you are easily offended by cursing, I also would not recommend, or at the very least, skip a little.
