Summary of this Book...
Rick Baker tells ths story of his career as a cop in Compton, from the 1960's through to the mid 80's. While relating his own story, the author also charts the declince of his city, from working clas fmaily town, to a ghetto dominated by gangs and drugs.
This type of Book is good for...
People who enjoy good old fashioned cop stories will enjoy this book.
I especially liked...
I particularly liked the casual way that the author relates the action. Additionally, while he blows his own trumpet a little in the book, he freely admits that he was far from angel during his career. Gotta admire that.
I didn't like...
Internal politics doesnt really interest me a great deal and there is a lot of that in this book.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
I wanted to pick up some old Joseph Wambaugh books and drop back into good old fashioned cop stories
I recommend this Book because...
I recommend this book for people who want to know how things have changed over the years.
