Summary of this DVD...
This is the story of a society dinner party in the early 1930s. Everyone is broke, but trying to pretend they have money. The only one with money is a weasel lobbyist who has inside information and government contacts, played by Wallace Beery. His wife is played by Jean Harlow. She is having an affair with her doctor and despises her husband. When he tries to do a corporate takeover, she sabotages it because she thinks it is mean to the people giving the dinner party. The dinner party is at eight.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who is interested in Jean Harlow's performances. In this one she yells and gets the best of Wallace Beery calling him a big "gas bag."
I especially liked...
Jean Harlow's performance. Marie Dressler is good too. The rest are kind of over the top, especially the Barrymore brothers.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
watch more Jean Harlow movies.
This DVD made me feel...
like I was watching a movie about a time that was as desperate as our time is now.
The cast of this DVD...
is a good one, but Jean Harlow really shines.
