The eighth in publishing order book by John Grisham returns to a faster pacing tale beginning with former Biloxi law partner, Patrick Lanigan, being found under a false name, taken away, bound and tortured. Patrick was believed to be dead by his friends, associates and family--the victim of a car crash--until 90 million dollars from a sketchy client of the firm ends up being swindled from an overseas bank. Why did Patrick steal the money? And who's body was in the car?

Legal thriller fans.

An exciting series of scenes that keep the pages turning. There is very little courtroom drama here, but I enjoyed the way Grisham unravels the mystery and turns some characters that seem pretty terrible into likable people.

There is also a nice, very unexpected twist.

This ranks as one of my favorites by Grisham so far. I enjoy how he seems to find different ways to tell lawyer-based stories and blend in bits of law along the way. There was less exposition here than in some of his works, which was also appreciated.
