Jacob Portman's grandfather tells him fantastical tales of his adventures growing up on an island. But Jacob soon outgrows the stories of children who can do peculiar things like levitate and be invisible.

When his grandfather, in a presumed state of dementia, dies in the woods with strange gashes on his chest, Jacob sees something in the woods that changes his life forever. His grandfather's last words send him on a quest to put to such impossible things to rest once and for all. Except, it doesn't do that at all.

Probably around age 13 to all ages.

The creepy Victorian era pictures. It gave the book a more authentic feel, but I can't say it was really overly spooky or anything like that.

Read the next one and I couldn't stop myself from pressing the "Buy it now" button.

Wonderfully on edge. Just the right amount of everything!

It was suspenseful, funny at times, and great for anyone with a thirst for impossible things.

Once I picked this book up it completely swallowed me up and I could not put it down!
