Summary of this Book...
It's fifty years from tomorrow. A microscopic black hole has accidentally fallen into the Earth's core and the entire planet is in danger of being destroyed.
This type of Book is good for...
Anyone who is interested in the environment, politics in the future, and science fiction technology that is still basic and like what exists now.
I especially liked...
The different areas of the world, the characters, everything. It all flows together. Even the characters I didn't like turn out to be vital and important. And the world itself is used.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
My goal on day is to see this on the big screen. As a writing exercise in school, I played around with drafting a script. It is a story that needs to be seen and shared.
The author of this Book...
David Brin has made predictions in this book that over twenty years later we are a society are only new catching up to. His views on the future of technology and the environment is beyond believable and is so real, I expect to one day wake up in the world he created.
I recommend this Book because...
It must be read. Not just the words but one must read between the lines. It can be a hard read if not used to science fiction and the hints of the planet being alive but its so worth it.
Further Comments...
I first read this book in 1993 and it is one of my favorites and top "standby" book when I quickly need to grab a read. I have worn out may copies of it and will continue to do so. Lastly the bonus epilogue after the afterword is a must read as well.

I want to share more but I don't want to spoil anything.

I set the book at 18+ because of it being a book with depth and parts are hard to follow. It has a strong ecological message that all can enjoy however.
