Summary of this Book...
Although this is a very readable book, I almost stopped reading it, but out of curiosity for what the author is trying to do and because I believed what she was doing with the main character was deliberate, I continued reading. In the end, I am glad I finished the book, and yes, she must intentionally have made the protagonist so annoying.

In the story, Jane Desmond doesn’t feel too good about her own life and although she has a job and a home, she cannot handle well her mother’s matchmaking efforts and a coworker’s attentions. When her best friend Thea loses her job after just purchasing an elegant house, Jane begins to try to help her. Her efforts, however, are so over the top when it comes to meddling in Thea’s life that I ended up hating Jane as a person, despite her good intentions. And no wonder, probably Thea hated what she was doing, too, as her actions showed it. If someone can go too far in anything, Jane did the utmost. As a result, will Jane realize what she is doing and will she be able to pull herself together at the end? If the readers want to take a chance on the outcome, they have to read the book.

On the positive side, despite being an annoying novel, I found it to be pretty well written with an even pace and I liked the self-discovery idea. If any other writer wants to tackle this self-discovery idea, however, it might be a better strategy to make the main character reach her goal without taking advantage of and crossing over the boundaries of other characters to this degree.

I didn't like...
the main character
The n/a of this Book...
is Helen J. Darling.
I recommend this Book because...
if you dare read it, you'll know what not to do with your protagonists.
Further Comments...
Read this book at your own risk. The author has put some effort into it and the story has a few redeeming qualities, but a reader can rarely meet such an annoying main character.
