This was an excellent book. I don't know what I was expecting it to be, but it ended up surpassing those expectations entirely. The story was compelling, the action was great, and I'm excited to continue on in the series. The author did a great job of having the daemon's plan unfold methodically and yet still unpredictably, and the way it evolved continued to surprise me. So far, this is one of my favorite books that I've read all year.
