Ace detective, Nick Charles, has married an heiress. So, he doesn't have to do detective work anymore and can just party and drink martinis to his heart's content. He even brags about doing that and living off of her money.

But, he is the best when it comes to solving murder. Murder ensues effecting people that Nick knows, so he and his bride, Nora, are drawn back into investigations and homicide.

It's a witty escapade from start to finish with a wonderful dog named Asta, who is a scene stealer to be sure. The dialogue is fast paced and clever - great writing.

I enjoyed the movie a lot - it was made in 1934 and is way ahead of its time in terms of humor and complicated story plotting. The dog is part of the charm.
