Summary of this Book...
I have enjoyed all three books written by Mr. Hill and Ms. McCubbin and this one is certainly right up there. After many years of reading different takes on what happened in November of 1963, it is Mr. Hill who convinces me of what I now believe. It is because he was there and he actually tried to do something to stop the horror. I think all (who are feeling) of us would stop it if we could, but how many would actually throw ourselves onto the scene of such terrible violence and live with the aftermath. I think most of us would run away. His reactions mean a lot to me as a person because I trust his responses as being honest.

I would say that I look up to Mr. Hill as a person more than I do these President/politicians. I find him very knowledgeable, honest and refreshing in his presentation.

With regard to these five presidents, I was interested to learn about how they behaved in private. I have always felt like President Ford was very very good and courageous. The big surprise was President Johnson's mercurial behavior. But, in light of history, it makes sense. Nixon, I never got. I never got why the country didn't see through him.

I found one minor error in the text of the hardback. On page 402, it says that Fred Dalton Thompson was a Senator when he questioned Alexander Butterfield before the Senate Committee. He was not a Senator at that time - he was the lead minority council (for the Repubicans) to the committee. A minor thing that I have personal knowledge about as I was a senate intern at one point in time.

This was an excellent book that I read in three days. Once I started I didn't want to put it down. It's rare that a book is like that, but this one was. Thanks to both the authors for an interesting and informative reading experience.
