Summary of this Book...
I loved this book, even though it made me cry buckets of tears. It was a beautiful story that was well told.It tells the story of a fox and his boy, who are forced to separate when Peter (the boy) has to go live with his grandfather when his own father goes to war.

It covers two main points of view - Peter's and Pax the fox's and both are compelling, though I admit I loved Pax more than Peter, at least until the end. Peter really came into his own towards the end.

The Amazon description is great, so I'll share it: "

National Book Award Longlist * New York Times Bestseller * An Amazon Best Book of the Year

From bestselling and award-winning author Sara Pennypacker comes a beautifully wrought, utterly compelling novel about the powerful relationship between a boy and his fox. Pax is destined to become a classic, beloved for generations to come.

Pax and Peter have been inseparable ever since Peter rescued him as a kit. But one day, the unimaginable happens: Peter's dad enlists in the military and makes him return the fox to the wild.

At his grandfather's house, three hundred miles away from home, Peter knows he isn't where he should be—with Pax. He strikes out on his own despite the encroaching war, spurred by love, loyalty, and grief, to be reunited with his fox.

Meanwhile Pax, steadfastly waiting for his boy, embarks on adventures and discoveries of his own. . . ."
This type of Book is good for...
People who like animal, young adult, adventure, growth, action, adventure, drama, family, or war stories.
I especially liked...
All the foxes *Smile* Peter in his good moments. Vola in all of her moments.

I was pleasantly surprised at Peter's three conditions for Vola. They were a lot more insightful and thoughtful than I'd have expected.

How well the often unexpected extra damage to non-warring parties was conveyed.

Really I loved almost the whole book. It was a great story.
I didn't like...
The violence but most of it was necessary to tell the story.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Borrow the next one to learn the rest of Pax and Peter's story (and I did).
This Book made me feel...
So sad! So many times! Gut-wrenching sadness. But also hope, adventure, triumph and more.
The author of this Book...

I recommend this Book because...
I loved it.
I don't recommend this Book because...
The violence might be too much for some, especially little kids.
