Summary of this Book...
The first thing I want to say about this book is the author is very talented. As soon as I started to read, I loved the way she phrased things, I loved her descriptions, I’ll loved the premise. There was great promise. However, it didn’t take long before the plot fell a little flat. And it didn’t pick up, either. The end “reveal” was predictable and disappointing. It’s a shame because I really had thought I would love this book.

The story is about a journalist who has been hired to write a book about woman who killed twenty-four people by leaving a bomb in a coffee shop. We also know from the start that the journalist is now in prison for also murdering someone. The narrative takes us along, showing us the circumstances regarding Julia’s heinous act and giving hints as to what Clare has done.

Maybe my main problem was with the characters? Julia has no redeeming features. Every member of her family is hideous in their own ways. Also, Clare isn’t likeable or relatable. I wished to learn a bit more about both women, to try to have some understanding. But I didn’t. Also, I found the characters to be flat and two dimensional.

So, all in all, a well written book that falls short when it comes to holding my interest.
