Summary of this Book...
Family relations, history, back story, and racial tension create a backdrop for character actions and interactions. Added to this a man is hit and killed which draws Atticus Finch into a legal effort to defend him. Atticus’s daughter Jean nicknamed Scout learns that things are not as she thought. Dialogue is a southern type and shows character and personality that gives the story depth and helps show how people lived during these times. It brings the characters to life adding to understanding of lifestyles which are important to understand actions and reactions between people. The scenes are detailed which helps show why the racial tension and relationships are unique to the times of racial issues of the 50s. With these descriptions it is easier to understand what was happening in the family, with friends and neighbors, and why the racial tensions exist. I got to live this story through the writers words.
This type of Book is good for...
Learning about Southern living in the 50s and relationships during challenging racial issues brings to life for the reader history in a dramatic manner.
I especially liked...
Getting to know the characters, and understanding the conflicts between family members, townspeople, and racial issues helped me understand what life in the south was like during these turbulent times. The dialogue gave me insight into character personalities.
I didn't like...
It took me a while to become interested in the story and eventually become a part of the story.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
I wanted to write the review because this story after I became interested in it is well worth reading. The writing style for me took a bit of getting used to. I enjoyed it after becoming acquainted with dialogue and character actions presented in a seemingly clam manner and then becoming animated as the story became more intense. I might return to this book sometime in the future to glean more from it.
This Book made me feel...
I felt satisfied and like the story was complete. This might help me when reading similar stories because I am now used to the pace of this kind of story.
The n/a of this Book...
The intricate details of this book take the reader on a journey that is intriguing and something to focus on so that nothing is missed. It's a trip into history and I wouldn't miss any details.
I recommend this Book because...
The writing style is an interesting journey into writing craft. The characters don't jump off the page, they are friends sharing their lives. The scenes are a walk through a town that has a rich history and is in conflict.
I don't recommend this Book because...
For readers who enjoy excitement it is ok, but the excitement is low key compared to those books with non stop action and adventure.
Further Comments...
This book takes place when Adicus is 72 years old, his daughter is grown, and when she finally realizes...I'm not spoiling the story.
