Summary of this Book...
This is a funny, historical romance novel. I think this is her first published romance novel. She's more famous for her vampire series, as noted below.

"Before her Argeneau vampire family paranormal romance novels made her a New York Times bestselling superstar, Lynsay Sands did The Deed. Lynsay’s witty, sexy, utterly fantastic debut romance transports the reader back to Medieval England to witness the outrageous trials and temptations of a good wife whose husband unfortunately dies before he can do…The Deed. The lady, left shockingly unprepared, finds herself promised to a handsome, landless knight, and misunderstandings, missteps, and (of course) passion ensue. The first of her more than thirty historical romance novels and anthologies known for their wonderfully humorous edge, The Deed is as delightful treat for confirmed Sands fans, as well as for readers who appreciate the early novels of Julie Garwood. This type of Book is good for...
People who like humorous historical romance novels. Fans of Lynsay Sands who want more of her work to read in between Argeneau vampire novels.
I especially liked...
The first quarter of the book had me laughing so hard I cried. And not just a little. I laughed and cried so hard I couldn't see.
I didn't like...
The book kind of dragged after that first hilarious quarter. It was okay but I had gone to bed apparently at the peak of hilarity and had been looking forward to more. There were some more funny parts, but nothing compared to that start. At least for me.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
Read the next in the series.
This Book made me feel...
Like I had a front row seat to Lady Emma's adventures.

About the author: "Lynsay Sands

Lynsay Sands is the nationally bestselling author of the Argeneau/Rogue Hunter vampire series, as well as numerous historicals and anthologies. She’s been writing since grade school and considers herself incredibly lucky to be able to make a career out of it. Her hope is that readers can get away from their everyday stress through her stories, and if there are occasional uncontrollable fits of laughter, that’s just a big bonus. I enjoyed the first 25% a lot.
Further Comments...
I borrowed a copy of this book from my local library right after they added it to their collection earlier this year. I wasn't going to review it but Gervic's Dragon Vale activity gives nice rewards so here we are. *Smile*

I would love to be able to write something that makes someone laugh and cry as hard as I did for the beginning of this book. I think I might have laughed even more than I did for that part of Shopaholic. but Shopaholic stayed funny throughout. This one had boring parts.

And I know some people would find the whole thing utterly unbelievable and Emma just dumb. But given the time frame the book was set in and her very sheltered life with no mother figure, I think it's possible. Though one would hope at least that one person in her household would have talked her out of blackening every piece of linen in the place. It wouldn't have been as funny, but in real life, I think someone would have. They all loved her.

My library has the third book but not the second book in the series so probably I will read that when I am done with the things I've already borrowed.

The average rating for this book on Amazon is currently 4.4 stars. The average rating for this book on Good reads is currently 3.9 stars. I'm not on Good Reads but it seems like their ratings tend to be lower.

If you really just want the laughs, you could read the first twenty five percent of the book and then give Emma and her second husband a happy ever after ending in your mind. You won't miss much, really. It's the scene with her audience with the king and the extreme way she "mourned" her first husband that I found funniest.
