We live much of life amid unique choices. Joy is anchored in The One beyond our life.
There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .
― Charles Spurgeon

Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.
― C. H. Spurgeon

Hope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.
― Charles Haddon Spurgeon

If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.
― Charles Spurgeon

A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.
― Charles Spurgeon

Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.
― Charles Spurgeon

When your will is God's will, you will have your will.
― Charles Spurgeon

Gentle day, a place to hide,
before my job begins.
Feel emotions deep inside
finding ways to win.

Sit and rest upon the couch.
Write a poem new.
Find emotions in the "pouch"
of tenderhearted you.

Gentle day seems lonely now,
but that's a space of peace.
Little thoughts bring hope somehow,
and tender blest release.

To see a canvas needing thread,
some white and pink, and then some red,
we follow patterns to be led.
In time peony's done.

To count the stitches left and right,
and up and down, it takes all night.
Yet, when it's done, it's quite a sight.
The paisleys dance and twirl.

The sunset photograph becomes
a canvas full of image sums.
The orange hues like sightline drums
make muted viewers all.

Each stitch-in-line embroidery,
red threads on towel pictures free
a coffee cup for all to see
with yellow steam above.

An oak or elm at end of day,
acrylic paints put on display.
The varied greens make this soul say,
"'Tis fun to make some art."

Rainy days and Wednesdays come
to challenge daily tasks with sums,
that feeling down and slightly dumb,
I'd stand with fully drenching face.
I'd hoped to win, but know disgrace.

Rainy days and Wednesdays now
come rolling in to take a bow.
Unquestioned hope is given, how?
The constant dripping of the leaves
brings cooler temps 'neath shelt'ring eaves.

Rainy days and Wednesday's song,
make all the world to sing along.
We brighten life, and right the wrong,
before we give our lungs' last breath
to lay this mortal dust in death.

Rainy days and Wednesdays gone
when lasting Day is seen as dawn.
The greenest grass of His great lawn
assuages ev'ry earthly fear
to make this dusty life most clear.

Rainy days and Wednesdays' test
becomes eternally the Blest
to lean upon the Master's breast,
and know His lasting Hope and Joy
to ev'ry redeemed girl and boy.

When the day's activities
have drawn to quiet times,
sleepy time proclivities
as eyelids close betimes.

Daydreams give way to dreams at night.
Each breath doth slow to sway.
Starry curtain seems as bright
as diamonds where they lay.

World asleep, though never all
for the sun shines, while we spin.
In my corner of the ball
are resting souls, again.

Quiet poet moments known
apply the balm of peace.
When the wakeful thoughts have flown
the soul can know release.

Will we know, that He's to come
by feelings in our bones?
Or will there be the bigger sum
of Earth's unusual groans?

No man can say when He returns
The Bible clearly states.
(Matthew 24:36, KJV)
The guesses here are processed learns,
while waiting for the date.

"He has not come 2000 years.
What makes you think he will?
"
Your words have made it pretty clear,
my heart can start to thrill.
(II Peter 3:4, KJV)

The weather has been really strange
so far this summer, spring.
The deer, now, in the daylight range.
At night some birds don't sing.

The pansies thrive. For that I'm glad.
Caladiums erect,
together chorus be not sad,
'til none can heat deflect.

The praise of Self, no need of God
(II Timothy 3:1-5, KJV)
are "red flags" all about.
The days of Earth we best applaud.
The Word of God we doubt.

The days of Noah have returned.
(Matthew 24:37, KJV)
The "falling away" is here.
(II Thessalonians 2:3, KJV)
The Truth of God has been unlearned.
Look up to the sky so clear.

Mimosas fan out to the sky.
So pink and white their blooms.
Begonias sit their red blooms by
in the writer's outdoor room.

Caladiums with hearts unfurled,
the greenhouse's sentry new.
His sun shines down upon the world
the nightlight panel to shew.

Our gentle-sounding AC hums,
beyond that there is peace
as warmer temps in dripping sums
cause sweat to now increase.

The pine tree stands with thickest bark,
so many years in place.
Within this yard, it makes its mark
with elegance and grace.

Our pansies and our hostas smile
blest growing in each pot.
We're honored, that they stay awhile
presenting all they've got.

What pain there is when a tooth is hurt!
I need relief and rest.
To have some peace, I'd give my shirt,
for dreamy sleep is blest.

It started last night just before work,
and grew intensely more.
Throughout the night, it seemed a quirk.
We'd root-canaled it 'fore.

This time the dentist could not fix
the pain, that seemed to stay.
His scrips have helped, but couldn't nix
the hurt, that I obey.

A root canal means "no more nerve,"
but why then have I pain?
It seems the nerves, that each tooth serves
have more feels to be gained.

To endodontist I go next
to find the final source
of pain, that doth so often vex
my daily life, and course.

Communication is quite hard
as everybody knows.
The words we use from sweep to bard
are rarely the same. It shows.

The theory of the ways we talk
are based upon the mind.
The dictionaries there we stock
can conversations blind.

Communication can we smooth
by learning what is known
between two hearts, accepted truth,
then speaking well is shown.

The dictionaries of a land
are standard, sterile, cold,
but friendly words must all be planned
before we know what's told.

The hearts of males and females cry
to be seen as we are.
Our differences, that make us sigh
can be close or yet quite far.

'Tis grace, that oils our words each day.
It helps us kindness show
for different thoughts are on display
through words, our ears don't know.

Communication's softest touch
tries hard to common find
the words, that others know so much
are offered from us kind.

His life was lived but 50 years,
an artist of the stage.
The often claps, and myriad cheers
brought hope at turning page.

Behind the scenes great work he did,
unseen throughout the play,
but in the classroom, never hid,
he lived the things he'd say.

The cancer took him in his youth.
It's time to celebrate
the life he lived as lasting proof,
his skills were worth their weight.

Now, Kelly's gone, but the gifts he shared
will always help us know,
that theater's a life prepared,
and acting helps us grow.
