| "Prompt: Who is a person of faith that you look up to and inspires you?" I don't know that thjere is any one person who inspires me more than others. I get inspiration from a lot of people. They say something and it triggers another idea in my mind. The other day the executive director of the home I live in and I had a conversation. He said he would like to get word out about the home. We are a 150 bed facility and we are at a population of 76 right now. That is because a lot of people do not know we are available or how to refer to us. So I am starting a branch of my ministry where I will be reaching out to churches and letting them know the procedure for making referrals to the Home. My inspiration can come from anywhere at anytime. The Person I most look up to is Holy Spirit. Humans will fail you eventually because they are flawed creatures. Holy Spirit never fails me. This is a poem about extending trust and dependence on somebody even though you know they are ultimately going to let you down. It is about believing even though you know they are going to hurt you. It is about second and third chances. Ultimately, it is about love. I like it. |
| "Prompt: Where is a place that God feels most present to you?" God feels present to me all the time. However, I take issue with feeling God. Yes. We all like to feel the presence of God. The peace and love is overwhelming. However, this leads us to depend on our feelings. "I know God because I've felt Him." This is a dangerous place to put ourselves in. I don't believe in God because I've felt Him. I believe in Him because my faith tells me He is there. God is real to me whether I feel Him or not. God is very displeased when I base my belief in Him on the "real good" feeling I get at church. That real good feeling is not God. It is an emotional frenzy brought about by a combination of the music we play and last night's dinner! God wants me to believe in Him based on faith. Hebrews 11:6 says that without faith it is impossible to please God. What then is faith? Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as trust in something you can't see or prove. Feelings "prove" something to us and are not part of faith. Faith knows that God has its back whether it feels God's presence or not. Man, you have to be careful of that alien grog! It will reach out and touch you! I think half the crew was out sick due to the party we had last night. Somebody spiked the punch with alien grog and we were out of it! However, the sensors picked up a star. The ship automatically took orbit and we managed to scrape together a landing party. ~SilverMoon~  writes Dog or
My best cure for alien grog or anything else intoxicating, is to avoid it to begin with. I am a recovered addict with nearly 13 years of sobriety. I know I cannot drink or use anything without a prescription. I do use mind-altering substances daily but I take them as prescribed and do not get high on them. I have narcolepsy so I take an amphetamine to combat it. I also have bi-polar disorder so I take a medication to combat it. However, I do not abuse either of them and make sure the nurse gives them to me. The last time I drank I drank 17 White Russians. The bartender was making them doubles to try to get me drunk. My wife was my designated driver. Well, we got pulled over for a taillight. The officer asked if she had been drinking because he could smell the booze. She told him she was driving me. He asked how many I had drank. She told him and he just about croaked. He asked me to let him breath analyze me, assuring me he would not arrest me. Since I had known him all my life I did so. I blew a .359, which should have killed me. Keeping to his word the officer let me go, but told my wife to call when I passed out so he could try to treat me for alcohol overdose. That was his mistake because I overheard him and never allowed myself to pass out. He drove to our house twice to check on me and asked my wife if I had so much as spit on the sidewalk so he could arrest me. I never did get treated but I never drank or used again. |
| "Prompt: Tell a moment in your life you knew God was real." I would like to say that I have always thought God was real. Unfortunately, that would not be true. There was a time when I was a confirmed atheist. However, I have seen enough and been through enough to know that God is real. I have also viewed the records and tried to prove that the Bible was false. All I managed to do was teach myself its validity. The Bible is very true. God does exist. I have seen too much to believe otherwise. For example, I knew a woman who was on life support. The family was told it was hopeless and to let her go. She is now conscious and breathing on her own. Things like that do not happen naturally. They are done by God's divine power and intervention. Yes. I firmly believe in God. I believe he wants a relationship with man and is willing to do anything to have that relationship. He was even willing to die and did so on a Roman cross at Golgotha. He then raised from the dead defeating death once and for all. Prompt: "We cruised the outer rim today. Back on Earth, one of the most populated nations on Earth is still celebrating it's birthday. God bless America. Do you celebrate Independence Day where you live? If so, what is that like? If not, why not?"Yes. I am a Christian so every day is independence day for me. |
| "Prompt: Who is one person you think God put into your life for a reason (and what is that reason?)" That is a difficult question because I believe God puts a lot of people in my life for a lot of reasons. However, I would tend to go with a peer support specialist at the Clarksburg VA in Clarksburg, WV. I say him because he told me about the place I am now living and working. He started the original paperwork to get me here. Since he did that God has used me as chaplain since the beginning of the pandemic. This place had little spiritual pulse when I got here. If there had been no chaplain for the pandemic it would have died all together spiritually. God placed me here to encourage it and keep it going. Since it 4th of July this weekend, write about this poem in your entry this weekend." I know many soldiers who have left their families behind to trudge off to war. It is their courage that gives all these athletes the right to kneel at the singing of the national anthem. If they can't stand on their legs during the National Anthem, then why don't they donate their legs to some soldier who lost his in combat! |
 "Prompt: When you get to heaven, what is one question you will ask God?"I doubt that I will be asking God anything. I will be too busy falling on my face before Him shouting "Glory, Glory." If I did ask a question, it might be "Why?" I am unworthy of any of the gifts He has given me. So I often wonder why He has chosen me.
