Any genre and topic you like. For example Fantasy and dragons. There are contests available too.
I've just posted "WWN Contest Newsletter - October"  . You could try reading through the prompts in those contests for something that inspires you.

If you scroll down in The Hub, you will see (probably in the left-hand column) a writing prompt. You can click for hundreds more writing prompts. Pick one that catches your imagination and start writing.

Details about writing is nebulous. I am going to assume you know how to write just by opting to be here.

As for some ideas, it's difficult because different people write in different genres. But here are a few:
