A politician dies and ends up at the pearly gates. St. Peter looks at him, sees his name in his book.
"So, you're a politician?"
"Well yes, is there a problem?"
"Oh no, there is no problem, but we have a policy for people in your position. You have to spend a day in heaven and in hell, then you're free to choose where you want to spend eternity."

The politician spends a day in heaven. He sees angels singing and people playing harps. He finds it boring. Next, he spends a day in hell.

Upon arriving, he expects to see a barren wasteland, with rivers of lava, and people being boiled alive.
Instead, he sees lush greenery, and a large 5-star hotel.

At the entrance, Satan is wearing a tux, and is sipping a martini.
"This isn't what I was expecting.", the man said.
Satan responded, "Hell has been completely misrepresented. We have a 5-star hotel, with 7 course meals prepared by the best chefs, sporting facilities, a large pool and it's all for free.

So the politician spends the day golfing, and eating meals by the poolside.

End of the day, he sleeps in the most luxurious bed he could ever imagine, in a very large suite.

The next morning, he wakes up back at the pearly gates with St. Peter waiting.
"So, what will it be?"
"I can't believe I'm saying this but I prefer hell."

So the politician is transported back to hell, where he sees a barren wasteland, illuminated by the flow of rivers of lava, screams of people being tortured, and the air full of the stench of sulfur.

Once again, he sees Satan in his tux.

"What happened to the hotel, the pool, the golf course and all the greenery I saw yesterday?"

Satan replied, "Well yesterday we were campaigning. Today, you voted."

So true.
I laughed when I should be crying. Oh, I prefer laughing until I am crying.

It's your story.
Feel free to hit 'em with a plot twist at any moment.

That constant what if... I forget about it sometimes.
Gaby ~ Keeper Of The Realm with short story, I enjoy writing a twist at the end.
My problem is that I tend to telegraph the twist a mile off.
I think of a writer as a river: you reflect what passes before you.
Every secret of a writer's soul, every experience of their life, every quality of their mind is largely written in their works.

Spooky, ain't it?
Writers Block.
When your imaginary friends won't talk to you 😂
Some people when leaving, tell they're pets that they'll be home later. Others think that's weird. No, what's weird is being a writer and telling your characters you'll be home later, and they don't even exist. 🤣

Is it weird, though? Have you seen some of the people that exist outside? I'd much rather hang out with my imaginary characters - they make sense, and even if they don't, it's something I can fix.
Some people say, "hey man, that story has been told a hundred times."
"Not by me it hasn't." 🤘⌨️
Up late, middle of the night.
Sitting at the keyboard with very little light.
Tapping at the keys, thoughts in my head.
Trying to recall, the last thing she said.
I may be a dreamer, I may have high hopes.
I may get knocked back, but I'll bounce off the ropes.
I'll keep moving forward, but I am not a fighter.
I am who I am, and what I am is a writer.
Not bragging, just happy. I shared one of my stories with a published writer outside of writing.com. He told me I write really well. Totally made my day 🤘

Schnujo is Late to Lannister thank you. Hope you're doing well 😊
I'm missing class because I've been sickly for several days now. *Pthb* But the paper is done, so it could definitely be worse! Lol
rupali Thanks, I really appreciate that
Being a writer is cool and all. It's like having homework everyday... And then you die 🤣

It's just like writing Essays for English class. True.
For me, English essays were misery. Creative writing by choice on a daily basis? That's brilliant. Yes, might feel like homework - but it's work on your own home that you're building to your own specifications... Of course, it's probably very different if your writing is your livelihood and/or you're writing only "what the public wants."
Why did Shakespeare only write in pen?
Pencils confused him. 2B or not 2B😁
Anyone else like me, go to a 4th of July BBQ, listening to family's conversations, and thinking, that would make a great story? 🤣

I do that sitting in a pub, in the library, sitting on a bus - everywhere. The secret is, put on headphones that people can see and they think you can't hear.

As for family, mine is wary now because a few conversations ended up as short stories that found themselves published...
Finally finished reading "Killer Ambition", by Marcia Clark. I did not enjoy it. Last 20 or so chapters were in a courtroom and it had a boring ending. I'm onto "Hidden Prey", by John Sandford. I know he won't disappoint.
Happy 4th of ..

"pass me a beer" July 🤣🍺

We're giving this writing everything we got and then some
It ain't always pretty, but it's real
It's the way we were made wouldn't have it any other way
These are my people
