I finally managed to get online again, net problems can be the pits. What does it have to do with writing? Plenty, but then even when I'm in the van, waiting for someone to come out of the house / store / whatever, I like to have a notebook and pen handy. yes, I'm old school when I have to be. Saw a line once. "I can't not write." That just about sums it up for me! In the writing line, I'm still struggling with colonizing another planet, with the help of course of some new-found aliens friends, and some not-so -friendly ones as well! The scenes can come, episodic like I think, so this might well be a graphic novel as well as a novel- novel.
On a personal note, we moved - again - and I hope to God this is the last time for about 10 yrs! I still have a dog to walk, (or who walks me), but my office is in the basement! I have 99% and it's coming slowly but surely! So much space! (For now.) but then writing isn't the only iron in the fire. Is it ever for anyone? Fantasy is taking a break, but murder mystery is looking better. (Thanks J B Robb)
There's still lots of boxes to unpack, and shelf space to create. Home Depot has those nice wood crates I love for 9$ & change (+ tax of course) for a little while. Can't afford to buy a whole lot of them, but i would if i had the $$$! :)
Well that's about it for news.
If anyone has any ideas on transportation on a virgin planet, reply at will! Remember, there ain't no service stations out there! Horses, mules, donkeys, and the like seem to work well enough, but a car, flying car, or even ultra-light plane would need some repairs on site, and or some homemade parts built!
Such is the case when one is building a world, even with sometimes spotty help from ones friends, trading partners, and "others".I see no reason why any one race should dominate the place, or why they should be ALL hostile! What do you think?
I just posted a chapter of something I've been working on for a little while. my first thought was "why does a Giant in fantasy always have to the the "heavy" (pardon pun). So I started with the basic idea of a friendship between 2 young males, and it went from there.
