Some days, the loneliest place in life is in a marriage. Two people with different needs not willing to budge until the other provides. It breeds resentment and the search for someone or something else to fill those needs.
It is difficult to provide empathy to someone who "doesn't get satisfaction" from the tedium of daily tasks that have to be done to support a family but in turn doesn't acknowledge the person who is left to those tasks.
I am sure it is also difficult to "rise to the occasion" when one is not being heard or understood.
I get that, but at the end of the day you end up with two people feeling emotionally and physically drained that retreat to their safe places, which unfortunately, do not seem to be on each other.

Wow! That is quite sad. *Sad* Seems like an endless cycle and makes me super happy that my husband and I are close friends after all these years.
