hey! my name's River. I'm a teenager so I'm pretty new to the whole writing world. Im in an AP Lang class so I understand how to write, but I'm sill learning about how to stay motivated and keep writing the same thing. I've been working on one of my books since the beginning of high school (pushing 3 years) and I only have a few chapters. Any tips?

Have you participated in or even set up an account with www.NaNoWriMo.org? It stands for National Novel Writing Month, which was last month. There are a ton of forum threads and I really recommend the Adoption Society. They have Adopt-a-Plot, Adopt-a-Running Gag, Adopt-a-Subplot, Adopt-a-lots of different things that can help you get creative and energized about your project.

Also, don't feel obligated to write in a linear fashion. If you have an exciting idea for near the end, write it now. You can fill in bits to get you there later. *Wink*

Be sure to read regularly. You can get ideas and find inspiration in the words of others. *Smile*

Good luck and have fun!
does anyone actually use this website on the daily? I feel like everyone I know comes on once a moth at most. I haven't been on in almost a year.

Daily??? Try like hourly! lol There are days I spend more time on here than doing pretty much anything else during the day. *Laugh* Wait...I probably should be laughing about that... *Think*
Well, Jody, if I log in but don't leave it's still "once a day", right?

That's what I tell myself *Rolling*
I figure if I log in, then go to check Facebook and forget that I was on WdC for 2 hrs, then come back, that's twice. So, doing that all day long, yeah, I'm on like 5-10 times a day. *Laugh* We all count it differently, Jaeyne of the Free Fab Five. *Bigsmile*
Sorry River. I know I have given you some reviews and I am truly sorry that I haven't been able to find the time to give you more. I have found that sometimes if I give someone else a review and ask for one in return I get some that way. I'm going on a month long Amazon River cruise soon so I wont be online for a while, but please ask me for a review in mid Dec. Hugs.

It's been awhile since I got on here so HELLO! juggling school and writing has proven more challenging than I expected! Anyway, I added some more to my story about AI! Tell me how you feel about it! If you see any problems feel free to shoot me an email telling me what was wrong. IF you hate it-tell me why. If you love it-tell me why. I'd love to have some insight so I know where to go next.
thanks,
River Kingsley :)
lately,I've been struggling with making my stories interesting. My first book I ever attempted was

It travels so much to different lands and generes I'm having trouble keeping it interesting. I fell like there's no personality or emotion. It's like they're just going through the motions instead of being terrified/ Most of my family says its perfectly fine. They've read more than what's on here, but still. Can ya'll please give me reviews or tell me things I could do differently I've never struggled like this before and it's stressing me out a lot
thanks,
River K :)
my grammar in that paragraph is terrible. I apologize.
Just worked a little more on my book! I would love to get some more opinions!

note: Do not baby me and step around the problems staring you in the face. Tell me what is horrible about it what needs to be fixed. I love nice reviews but sometimes you need to hear the bad stuff too.

Yeah, I find that to be a common issues with reviewers. They tend to avoid the problems with it and only say the good. Which, in the end, is no help
Ok guys, so a while back, someone anonymously gave me an updated version of WdC where I could write novels and do more things and I was just wondering if, when my three moths are up, I will lose the ability to keep writing in the books I've created during the time that I've had the updated version.

Yes, those book items will be locked in your portfolio for quite some time once your membership expires. You'll get access to them if/when you upgrade the membership again. More info about what happens when your membership expires here: "When Your Paid Membership Expires *Smile*.
Added a chapter and 1/2 to my book! Check it out!

Today has been a horrible day. I had an awful migraine, got into a fight with my friends, and may or may not have failed a chemistry test. I decided to get on here and work on a story of mine to clear my head. I checked my email like always ,but to my surprise, I got a word notification. The email said that someone had anonymously payed for me to be an upgraded member. I cannot stress to you how happy I was! I may have teared up at the thought that someone on here cared for me enough to do that. But, since they did it anonymously, I cannot just email them and thank them. So, mystery person, if you're reading this, thank you so much. You have made my day! :) :) :)
Hello guys! If you are ever suffering from writer's block,
1) I feel you. We all do. And I'm sorry.
2) also, I made a writing prompt for just the occasion, so check it out if you ever need to

Hello guys! If you are ever suffering from writer's block,
1) I feel you. We all do. And I'm sorry.
2) Imagine that you are speaking to someone who is completely blind and has never seen anything. Describe colors to them without using things you see. Try using your other senses and you emotions to figure out the meaning of the color.
Here is my description of colors if you need an example.

I spelled have wrong.
how do you become a preferred author? I know that I'm still a newbie, but I was wondering how that works/
  •   4 comments
Though people tend to prefer to play special attention to black cases. They're also more willing, I find, to review a black case opposed to a yellow case. So, it might be in your favor to stay a black case for a while longer
A preferred author is someone who, as Slime-j says, has usually been here for 6 months and who is an active, helpful member of the community - join groups of interest to you etc. You also need to ensure you are reviewing regularly. If you do all these things the SM and SMs will notice, and then people are rewarded by being promoted to a preferred author a couple of times a year.

In my experience, I get as many reviews as I did as a black case so don't worry that you won't get reviews.
Here's more information about Preferred Author *Right* "Promotion to Preferred Author *Smile*
