Just a 5-question quiz
Again, no obligation. I don't think GoT even cares if I post this, but I had to actually google answers, so I'm posting it to show off my work. |
So, weird question... Does anyone have the 2022 version of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM-5-TR)? I need to know what page the diagnostic criteria for Functional Neurological Symptom Disorder is on. I got quotes out of a bootlegged version online, but obviously, I can't cite a bootlegged version for my paper I'm turning in for my PhD application. (Plus, the bootlegged version had a different number of pages from the book version, so I wouldn't trust the accuracy, anyway. ) I already tried to get it on Amazon Kindle, but either it doesn't exist (probably because folks are posting bootlegged versions online lol) or it's not accessible in the Falklands. I can only get the physical book. |
Bilal Latif - Thank you for that suggestion! I'm quite surprised a school in London has it. Anyway, that is a good way to try to get around the problem, if I can't get the answer from a friend. I had 2 friends who told me they'd get me the page number today. Then I haven't heard from either since this morning. Anyway, thank you for the Plan B. |

Thank you for that, He’s Brian K Compton! Unfortunately, I've already submitted the paper. Or, should I say, "Fortunately" because this book gives me yet another page number. This is why I was hoping someone would have an actual paper copy of the book. All the online stuff seems to have different numbers of pages and different page numbers for stuff. I'm just hoping they won't actually check that reference. But, I promise, in my actual dissertation, I won't be winging references like this. Anyway, that is an interesting website! Thank you very much! |
Here's another piece of worthless GoT-ness.
No obligation to do it if you're not interested. It's 15 words. |
Creating a great madlib can be challenging! I helped someone with theirs a while back, trying it over and over with different words, helping them fine-tune it. That's not what I'm asking for here, though you are free to give opinions, which will be filed away for after GoT and perhaps addressed...or perhaps not, being I'm pretty terrible at editing things. The point of this is simply to post my madlib. Feel free to do it...or not. This GoT task has no requirement that people participate in my activity. Yeah, I have issues.

Schnujo is Late to Lannister - Trust me it WAS A LOT MORE WORK then expected. But hey, when you play the Game of Thrones, you hoard points or you die. FIRE & BLOOD. |
Here's another piece of mandatory fun, courtesy of GoT. No, you don't have to do this one either. I'm just posting to delay the effort I have to put into the next item. It's my version of procrastination while not looking like I'm procrastinating.
Only 10 clues and answers are in a dropnote, in case you need them. |
I've added a new entry to my book, "Randomly Writing" : "The Message" Word count only 236, if you want to give it a look. |
They've done plenty, Elycia. They say flow can only happen when you're super used to doing something and are very proficient and talented. You can't reach flow as a new writer, or even if you just write several times a week, is my understanding. You have to be writing pretty much every day, often for hrs at a time to be able to achieve flow. They say writer's block is a fear -- fear of not being good enough, not knowing what to do next, being published, or any other number of fears which may or may not directly be related to the book. There's plenty of other studies. Maybe search "writer's brain research" to see what you get. |
Schnujo is Late to Lannister - I specifically like to know how a writer's brain look like after they die. Not Albert Einstein's. I tried to Google. Got "dead writer's brain". I got brain dead writing instead. |
I think all the brain structures look the same. But there might be neuroimaging differences while alive. For example, when a writer is thinking of a spring day, their brain might be different from a non-writer thinking of a spring day. Maybe google "neuroimaging of writer's brain." |
There's something for everyone in my port -- not exactly, but at least mostly something for a lot of people. 64. Write a logline about your port.. Yup one sentence that sums up your port and makes us want to visit. Yep, that's my logline for my port. |
If you're looking for some books to read, I've got some great suggestions for you! Yes, there are problems with several areas of WdC at the moment. intuey of House Lannister has tagged SM and I've emailed him and posted in the Bug Reporting forum (though it didn't seem to work, thus the email). He is aware (assuming the tagging and email are working -- if not, he'll figure out soon enough that the WdC matrix is glitching lol). Please don't tag or email him so he can work in peace to resolve the problems. |
I've added a new entry to my book, "Randomly Writing" : "The GoT Emoji Poem" Just 7 quick lines of...fun? Yep, another "Game of Thrones" activity. |
I think they're always worth the look, but tonight's is especially awesome! Check it out "School & Alice Cooper" If you don't see a gold heart by his envelope, you're missing out. Fan an follow Sum1 ! |
It's definitely worth it! This is the only blog I try not to miss. lol |

Review of The Story of a Soul: The Autobiography of St. Therese of Lisieux by Therese of Lisieux Read for
and
Purchasing from the above link helps WdC This book is about the life of "The Little Flower of Jesus" or simply "The Little Flower,” Saint Therese of Lisieux (France). She is one of the most popular saints in the history of the Roman Catholic church, according to the book description. I know she's definitely popular in the Falkland Islands. The book is mostly her "autobiography," letters to her Mother Superior (boss of the convent) because she was asked to write about her life. Apparently, her Mother Superior saw something special in little Therese and knew this writing would be important one day. St. Therese (or simply Therese, as she wasn't yet a saint) even wrote something like, "I don't know why you are having me write these letters since you already know everything I do." She died, at only 24, from tuberculosis. She was canonized (made a saint} in 1925, just 28 years later, quick for sainthood. She had 4 miracles (all healing) attributed to her for sainthood. All miracles have to be a situation where there was no hope. A 10% chance of living is too great a chance. You might have been that 10%. Her autobiography starts with info about her parents and ends with info about her death and after her death, so the book isn't written 100% by her. Also, if you get the paper editions, Amazon says "This edition includes over 288 footnotes, and many additional letters, counsels, and prayers, creating a study edition for readers to better understand St. Therese's 'little way' to deepening a relationship with God." If you get the Kindle version, you get different things, including artwork exclusive to the ebook. St. Therese's parents were also made saints. They are, by my understanding, the first married couple to be saints. And something like 4-5 of their 9 children became nuns. But of all the kids, even her own sisters (biological and spiritual) recognized there was something unique about Therese. Apparently, God agreed. Rated 5.0 on Audible and 4.8 on Amazon. The book is 7 hrs and 26 mins and 132 pages. Amazon Best Seller Rankings #11 in Christian Saints & Sainthood (Kindle Store) #29 in Christian Saints & Sainthood (Audible Books & Originals) |
EEK! Now my Premium Plus email is 90% full! I literally ONLY have Premium Plus because of the size of the inbox. I don't even know what else that membership can do except host audio files, which I'll likely never do because, like everyone else, I hate my voice. lol (Take that last bit either way you want. lol) Doesn't SM understand that I don't have time go through my inbox? I spend too much time doing other WdC activities to spend time on nonsense like clearing out my inbox...or reviewing...or writing. Yes, yes, I could delete my sent mail, but that just delays the inevitable. Since it looks like my inbox is going to get full regardless of what I do (since I know me and I'll likely not get around to clearing it -- yes, this is a current problem in my personal email, too), it looks like I'll just have to quit WdC. ** Shrug** It's the only viable solution. Sure, then my inbox will fill faster, but at least I won't know. Hey, I could come back as one of those recycled newbies. Of course, to cover my tracks, I'd have to stop using emojis. NOPE! NOT WORTH IT! I can't stop using the emojis! I guess I'll have to clean out my inbox...eventually. |
Elycia Lee ☮, if I don't get into my PhD program, I do plan to get a job here and who knows how long I'll stay. Forever isn't that long when you're happy. Thank you, Massive Friendly Derg, yeah, I've been down that road quite a few times. Annoyingly, a lot of the biggest ones are things I hate to get rid. Anni Pon, I can set up AUTO-SORT for my emails?!? THAT sounds like something I need to do! Of course, that just means I'll have to check 14 folders whenever I check my emails, but yes, I think it will make deleting much easier. Though I do tend to delete the ones I don't care about, but still, this might really help...at least, in the future. lol I don't have too many sentimental emails, {huser:lilli_in_fl). Most of the things in my inbox are either things I need to get around to addressing or things that arrived when I was either too depressed or too overwhelmed to deal with. So, yeah, if that tells you anything about how my mental health has been (mostly in the past) and how very far behind I am in the things I need or want to do around here... |

Jaeramee of the Free Folk - OMG! The only way that could be funnier would be if it wasn't quite so true. I love that I can get MBs and emails, but I can't write. Well, that is almost how much I write, though I do (finally) have a new item open. Thank you for the laugh and the wonderful price. Can I pay that in GPs? |
Mini Newsfeed Contest (Yep, another "Game of Thrones" activity. ) Tell me your favorite procrastination methods. You can tell me a serious one that you really do and a funny one that may (or may not) be based on reality. There will be 2 winners -- 1 serious and 1 funny. Official entries will end tonight at 5 pm WdC time. But every entry gets 1k, so you can get GPs until midnight tonight because your entry may make others laugh or realize they're not the only ones. Plus, someone else might see your entry and send you a MB. Winners of are Jaeramee of the Free Folk and Amethyst Angel (House Mormont) But be sure to give all the answers a read because there are some great ones in there! Post your answers below... |
What do I do to procrastinate? I scroll through this Newsfeed seeking entertainment, amusement, stuff to grace with a comment. Oh, and I dabble in entering the Quickie Newsfeed contests.. Why says it can't be fun? |
Serious: I decide I need to go get a drink of water. Funny: I can't right now, I'm busy building a bird powered catapult. |
1) What do I do to procrastinate? Well, it's simple - I read. "Just one more chapter," I tell myself, while the writing I know I want to do sits unloved, while the work I have to get done is ignored, while the phone calls I have to make leave people in the lurch. Books - bane of my existence... and I wouldn't have it any other way. 2) Some may call it procrastination, but I call it vital - I check the PengWeb pages to see what those nefarious, feathered b*st*rds are up to now. I take notes on their plans - hidden in codes only those enlightened like me can interpret - and then write down detailed and not at all convoluted plans of my own to counteract them, though I have not yet had the chance to get my army of well-trained and obscenely happy quokkas to battle them with frickin' lasers. |

I can help with the plutonium, Writer_Mike, but I have to say, the price of flux capacitor-equipped DeLoreans has been insane ever since COVID. IDK why, but the price makes the housing market look like the price of bubble gum. |
Schnujo is Late to Lannister - Coming from someone normally housed in SoCal, that's saying something. |
I took the quiz twice, giving different answers, and both times got 2 / 5. Well at least I'm consistent!
But hey Jody, I wasn't able to view the correct answers. Not sure why, when I clicked I got a technical error. Maybe it's because you've allowed multiple attempts ... ?
Interesting quiz! Thanks for creating it!
