I read both the preface and this chapter fully and am totally confused as to what time era this is happening in. Throughout the preface I pictured a Renaissance backdrop with how you described things in the second paragraph and how she was 15 and needed to be wed. Then I read chapter 1 and now she has a fridge and the floors are made of linoleum?
Very entertaining short story. You should write more, maybe make this the intro, starting a novella. Vampires vs. Witches, or witch in this case. It could be like a Buffy-type story and she's always saving her clumsy boyfriend from blood thirsty vampires.
This sounds like it will be a very interesting story. I like the setting. Not too many people would pick the year 1961. I also like how the stalker isn't a perfectly handsome man that everyone falls in love with. I'm definitely going to keep reading.
