What a wonderful little story. Aren't children amazing? I love how they can communicate without ever saying a word. When my husband was stationed in Germany, I enrolled my all American (meaning non-German speaking) 4 year old in a German kindergarten. She fit right in and language was never a barrier. This story made me cry and also made me feel very proud to be an American. Your charactarizations of the people and your descriptions of the places and events are excellently depicted. The bombing of the barracks was a senseless tragedy and was not a fitting end for our Marines. Like Mr Yoder said, "what happened to those boys wasn’t our idea of war.” Thank you for writing and for sharing your work.

This is an excellent puzzle and I enjoyed it a great deal, except for the fact that it was too short. I thought I was something of an expert on the revolutionary war and all the events surrounding it but I still had to look up one of your clues. Thanks for the challenge.
This is a very well written poem. The sentiments expressed here are true during any conflict where people are fighting and dying when they really want to be home with their families, living and enjoying life. Your poem made me feel very sad for both the soldier and for his family.
