I love how you started this poem with the powerless observation of youth. Then as you go through the phases in your life you bring the reader on a journey of how through the passing of time you became what you didn't understand, but understood you wanted to end the cycle. I thought it was beautiful. Though I had dissimilar circumstances I had similar revelations. I, too have felt I had to let go of emotions that left me empty and going nowhere. I appreciate the beautiful journey of emotion intelligence. Hopefully it helps to heal others wounds or help them become aware of their own harmful cycles in their lives.
