On the subject of parsecs, that line was actually meant to show that Han is talking out of his ass to impress what he sees as a couple of country rubes. In the script it actually describes the line as an obvious lie, but it doesn't come through as that in the actual film. Official Star Wars canon on the matter is that the Kessel Run goes through a perilous patch of space that most ships take a longer but safer way through, but Han took a much more dangerous path and cut the distance down to twelve parsecs. So fret no more, because I have fixed Star Wars for you.
