Very vivid writing of what some children go through living with an alcoholic/abusive parent! Must be so scary for them to have to live like that. It's easy to see why you placed in the contest - this piece is written very well - I like the style and it is a great read! Great job!

I agree with you wholeheartedly! Winter is one of my favorite times of the year. I love the snow and the iredescent ice on the dead trees! This year has been so hot and it's been so hard to keep cool - the a/c runs constantly. At least in the winter cold, you can always add more clothing to stay warm!

I really enjoyed reading this for two reasons. One: it was written from your heart and is a very well-written piece. Two: I am a grandmother of a 5 year old and two 2 year olds and I appreciate reading a poem written for the likes of me! I must always remember to smile, love them, and give them words of wisdom! I am sorry that your own grandmother isn't here to read this. She would be very proud.

Wow. This one caught me off-guard! It starts out seemingly innocent, just letting one know how you feel and tells of what you would do to show that love. Then the last four lines are a shocker!
You have written this very well. It is extremely emotional and shows just how heart-breaking it is to watch the one we love with someone else.
Nice job!
