Review of Corruption

I agree on most of this stuff. What I get from this poem is that we must each take personal responsibility for what goes on in this world.

Our countries, our democratic constitutions, are based not only on the protection of the rights of the individual, but also on the responsibilities that come with these rights and priviledges. Democracy is not a free ticket to ride.

It's time we contemplate our roles in all of the madness that we see occuring around the world and ask ourselves, what can we do about it? How can I make changes so that others don't suffer for the luxuries I enjoy in this material western world?

But, you're right, it seems hopeless sometimes. It seems that in our neurotic socities, we live by what we own, not on what we do in life. Commercials, newspaper ads, emails -- everything it seems, is out to make us into consumers. It's sickening. And China wants to be a economic power like many other rich countries? What happend to Confucious? What happend to wisdom? God, what a mess!

We have lost our citizenship and have been reduced to the lowest rung in society -- we are merely consumers.

Jimmy Carter, former president of the US once said, "We must adjust to changing times, but we must also hold fast to unchanging principles." And, the principle here is, I am a responsible citizen!

Review of Freedom

We love our soldiers, but we all hate war. It is a measure of last resort.

Indeed freedom comes at a huge price. We pay with our sons and daughters, our husbands and wives, our moms and dads. We pay with our hearts. I'd rather pay with gold.

We hope and pray that war will end. It has to end. Our hearts cannot take the incredible pain that comes with the sacrifice of our loved ones, our soldiers. We love them so.

However, we must conintue to ask important questions: Do we need to be there? Are we putting in as much work in negotiating peace as we are delivering war? Would this war have begun or continue if our politicians had to take a position in the frontlines?

I am a Canadian. We are at war too. You won't see me protesting in the streets, but you must know that I hope for war to end because I am part of it too. I pray that we are doing the right thing. There are many of us that don't take the comfort of my life for granted. We are observing closely the wars. We too are on guard. We are on guard for thee.
