I loved this story, a suitably icky and gruesome tale of horror with enough depth to it to make it more than just simple monsters-on-the-loose carnage. The characters all feel a tad bit familiar (the overworked protagonist trying to provide for his family, the old authority figure with a heart of gold that everyone looks up to) but they're all well-defined especially for a story that's only 5,000 words. And of course, the recurring use of the three blinking lights is fantastic. Good work!
