I love the picture you have painted! I had to read it a couple of times before I realized what was happening. I’d like to find out what happens next! Why does the “dark marionette” want revenge? And how can a shadow get revenge…unless it’s completely dark…I hope you turn this image into something more!
Oh, my. This did not turn out the way I expected. I can picture Peggy’s character, but I’m having a little more trouble with Mr. Thomson. A great story!
Wow! A great story! I want to find out what happens next…And who was that mysterious stranger at the bar? I hope you keep developing this. Your description of their surroundings—both visual and tactile—made the story seem incredibly real. If you do decide to expand the story, I’d like to find out more about the main characters including what makes them tick and why they are friends. They seem to have very different personalities.
A wonderful story! I think most women can relate to this feeling. You have incorporated the senses so well that I feel like I was there. Although this piece stands alone well by itself, it could also be the beginning of something longer if you wanted.
I especially like the way you play with words, especially “the baleful beast banished” and the “bridal train derailed.” It’s a great short-short. I think this story certainly could stand alone, or it could be developed into the beginning of a longer story.
