I have never given a perfect 5.0 before, but I think this piece deserves it! Great job. I like the narrator's voice; that sparse (some might say hard-boiled) voice that can describe the surroundings, or other characters, with an economy of words. But what words! The right word in the right place to give the reader the full effect of this monochromatic world. From "a never ending supply of neon that flushed out the darkness," through "fueled by the same dark, primal drive that allowed small wolverines to kill bears," to "a final, single tear ran down the length of her porcelain cheek," your writing is clear, concise and evocative. And what a terrific ending. I didn't see that coming!
