I think you messed up on the names here:

Benny didn’t really understand a lot of what the Chief was saying and he knew Benny would explain it to him later.

Was it supposed to say Nick or Nicky? Like this?

Nicky didn’t really understand a lot of what the Chief was saying and he knew Benny would explain it to him later.

Or like this? With either Nick/Nicky?
